How to Have an Intentional New Year

Learn how to have an intentional new year with a free workbook to help you reflect on the past year and plan the new one.

Have you ever made a New Year's resolution? I know I have. It's tempting to choose that "one thing," (or many things), that you want to change and get jump in with both feet.

What most people find is that their New Year's resolutions putter out in mere months, weeks, or even days. This leaves many people burned out on making resolutions, and turning away from this yearly ritual all together.

On top of this, the new year in the Western calendar falls in the middle of winter. Winter is a reflective time for most. While we may feel ready to take a step back and ponder our lives, not everyone is ready to jump right into change during the winter months.

That said, living intentionally is crucial for a meaningful life.

Is there a middle ground? Yes! It's called the Year Compass. The Year Compass is a workbook to help you reflect on your past year and plan your next one. You can download it, print it, and/or fill it out electronically.

I have been using this resource for a few years now. I like the Year Compass because it takes a holistic approach It encourages you to go through your past year and reflect on all of the different areas of your life - relationships, work, hobbies, health, etcetera. Also, reflection is just as important as action, if not more so. From here, clarity can arise about where you want to go next.

The Year Compass is something you can make your own. If you are feeling particularly reflective right now, you may emphasize or exclusively fill out the section on the past year. If you're excited to make changes, you may be particularly drawn to planning your year ahead. Each section is optional, leaving room for you to tailor it to what most calls to you.

If you'd like to check out the Year Compass, you can do so here. You may enjoy filling this out by yourself, with a trusted loved one, or even a group of friends. I hope you find it helpful!

Also, if therapy or holistic healing is something that calls to you in the new year, I'd be happy to meet with you for a consultation to discuss working together. You can submit your interest here.

P.S. I am not affiliated with the Year Compass, I did not make this workbook, and I do not receive any compensation (financial or otherwise) for sharing it. I am motivated to share this resource because it has helped me personally and I hope it can help others too.
